Growth Central Training offers this 2-day training using the Crisis Intervention Workbook and Curriculum: The EDGE Approach to De-escalationCompletion of the EDGE Approach to De-escalation training allows each learner to apply to NAMA for the CCIS-II credential. 

CCIS-II (Certified Crisis Intervention Specialist-II) – This level of credentialing is meant for professionals who have experience working in the field of crisis intervention and management, behavioral health, schools, jails, hospitals, security, peer support, management, foster care, child and family services, hospitality, etc. A CCIS-II will develop advanced competencies in relationship building under the pressure of time along with advanced verbal de-escalation skills. This level requires a full day of scenario intensives. This certification requires at least one of the following: peer support experience, a BA degree, professional field experience, and/or volunteer/community service. 12 hours of coursework.

Please note that tuition does not cover the application/ certification fee to NAMA of $150. Certification is not a requirement to attend the training.

  • Innovative topics of psychology like Interpersonal Neurobiology, Yield Theory, Attachment Psychology, PolyVagal Theory and more applied to the field of CI for the first time 
  • Meaningful content in self-awareness, anger management, resiliency and readiness for work
  • Evidence-based, best practices in de-escalation
  • Learn de-escalation techniques for use in crisis and any aggressive situation you may encounter
  • Deconstructing the neuro-mechanics of crisis to create meaningful opportunities with the goal of reducing future risk 
  • A four-step verbal language sequence known as EDGE 

The EDGE Approach to De-escalation is a NAMA authorized curriculum which leads to the NAMA CCIS I & II credential. This training is taught by curriculum developer Laura Beth Moss, CCIS-V and a team of CCIS III who are working in the fields of crisis intervention and behavioral health.
